• Testing & Patholgy Costs Policy

This policy outlines the responsibilities, procedures, and costs related to tests recommended or ordered by both integrative doctors and naturopaths at Floralia Wellness.

    Medicare Coverage and Out-of-Pocket Expenses:

Naturopath Ordered Tests: Tests ordered by naturopaths are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

Integrative Doctor Tests: Some tests ordered by integrative doctors may also be ineligible for Medicare rebates.

Private Billing: Patients will be billed privately by the pathology labs.

Lab Pricing: Prices vary between labs. Patients should contact the lab directly for specific pricing  confirmation of recommended tests.

Why You May Need to Pay for Tests

Integrative doctors and naturopaths take a holistic approach that may include services beyond conventional medical care, such as:

Nutritional counseling, lifestyle assessments, herbal medicine, and alternative therapies.
Private pathology tests such as stool analysis, organic acids, urinary hormonal testing, and standard blood tests to assess health markers (examples- but not limited to- B12, iron, calcium, magnesium vitamin D, folate, MTHFR, hormones, inflammation markers, homocysteine).

As these tests fall outside conventional medicine, they may not be covered by Medicare, requiring out-of-pocket payments.

    Benefits of Private Testing:

Comprehensive Analysis: Private testing may uncover underlying issues missed by standard tests.

Personalised Approach: Treatments tailored to individual needs based on genetics, lifestyle, and environment.

Tailored Treatment Plans: More detailed results allow for targeted, evidenced -based, safe and effective treatment plans.

Holistic Care: Addressing interconnected body systems, focusing on root causes, not just symptoms.

Patient Empowerment: Provides a deeper understanding of health, empowering patients to make informed decisions.

    Important Considerations:

Understanding Costs: Patients are responsible for contacting the pathology lab to confirm pricing. Costs vary and are changeable between pathology laboratories. A phlebotomy blood draw fee may also apply.

Collaborative Care with Your GP: If you prefer a collaborative approach, please discuss the tests with your GP, who may or may not agree to assist in arranging them.

Pathology Lab Charges: Pathology labs can confirm out-of-pocket charges for testing.

Acknowledgment of Terms: By booking an appointment and signing the consent to care form, you confirm your understanding and acceptance of these terms.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We truly value your time and appreciate your support.
